A microwave N2 discharge lamp was used to generate light of 174 nm

Smooth fit for the temperature dependence of the effective extinction coefficient α(T) in cm2/mol (base e) for T = 875-2200 K:

log α(T) = 6.02 + 2.11×10-5 T

converted to absorption cross sections (conversion factor α(T) → σ(T) is 1.66×10-24)
